It has been difficult to find articles that are free. I have found two articles that hit home for me. Working in a community clinic, I have many patients that do not read or write. I have a goal to produce many DS to upload to our computers that we will have installed later this spring (I hope). The purpose of this is to give my patients an opportunity to learn about dentistry and how they can improve their own dental care for a better life. Having access to these DS will make an impact on my patients and their families. I believe this would be a wonderful service for both our clinic, for our students who do a rotation to see other ways that we can communicate our knowledge to our patients, and most importantly, to our patients.

Too bad this was just the abstract-it would be interesting to see the entire article.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you in your reasoning why DS could be a vital educational tool for some of your patients. Unfortunately, there are some individuals who can not read; therefore, this would help them without having to feel embarrassed.
Also, I feel this will enable the students to see how not only are you a clinician but an innovator to technology with patient treatment/care.
